It is associated with the physical/etheric level of consciousness

Colours for this Chakra are Red or Black
Crystals for this Chakra are Hematite, Red Jasper or Ruby.

This centre is our link with nature and the planet Earth. It deals with all issues of a physical nature – the body, the senses and sensuality, aggression and self-defence. Basic instincts of survival, the instinct of hunting for food, protecting oneself and one’s loved ones. It is the association of the base chakra with this fundamental instinct of self-preservation that gives it a quality of the will to live. Because it relates much to our physical existence one can understand why it is described as the chakra where Spirit and matter meet. Spirit and matter must meet for there to be physical manifestation or existence. Within the etheric body there is an energy flow between the lower and higher charkas. The lower charkas are those residing beneath the diaphragm and the higher chakras are above. There is a corresponding higher chakra for each lower chakra, and transference of energy from the lower to higher chakra. The base chakra transfers energy to the crown chakra. When the charkas are in balance the colours should be vibrant.
